Community Policing - Interview Project

Part 1

Interviewing in conducting a research is very important as it brings views, thoughts and ideas of other people which help in building a definite result. Before conducting the interview, a pre interview task is created so that it can assist in the future steps.

This pre interview task is divided into different steps each defining the particular details of the interview. These steps include the participants and the questions that will be asked to them. In addition, secondary research will be discussed that includes the literature review of articles related to the community policing.

Participants

The participants that will be included for the interview are divided in to three categories. The total number of participants will be in between 90 to 110. These participants are categorized in three age groups. These age groups are teens, adults and the senior citizens. The purpose behind this classification is to gather ideas and thoughts of different age groups. The number of teen participants that will be interviewed will be almost 30 to 35.

The interview will be conducted in the high schools for this age group. The main purpose for interviewing this age group is to collect their ideas about their community policing that how they consider them. The second age group that will be interviewed is the adult, and the interview will be conducted in the colleges.

The adults will provide a more clear idea about the community policing that how their activities are affected by them. Many adults are involved in certain unlawful activities that are stopped by the community policing.

By this interview, the views of adults will be gathered that how they improved or worsen in their specific actions. The third category is the senior citizens. The interview will be conducted in the accessible environment as they cannot be bothered in their homes.

They will be interviewed in open environments like parks and amusement areas. This age group will provide the most effectual opinion about the community policing. This is because the senior citizens have the most qualified experience than other two age groups. The senior citizens will also share their experiences with the community policing and can provide with better opinions. The number of senior citizens that will be interviewed will vary from 40 to 50.

The interview will be of both qualitative and quantitative type. This is because the qualitative analysis can help in building a better and precise conclusion of the research conducted. On the other hand, the quantitative analysis will assist in drawing a more precise amount of the data on the research.

By quantitative approach, proper graphs and analysis can be made on the success or failure of the community policing. The interview will be conducted in both open and close environments i.e. in open areas like parks and in close areas like colleges and universities.
