Introduction

Education is a main foundation for the success of an individual. It is significant in the early age to receive proper education. Community schools play an important role in doing this. They provide wide varieties of opportunities and support for the children during and after school. Community schools offer a community based training that creates the ways to the successful path (Melaville. et.al, 2010).

Discussion

My observation is based on the Church Street Elementary School. The school intends to build students' social, academic, and intellectual skills, which will prepare them to meet the challenges and demands of the 21st century. The school's staff centers learning on the students' individual needs. The curriculum at Church Street Elementary School focuses on science and technology that develops the children to be self-motivated observers and problem solvers within the world (CSES, 2013).

The school has a diversified group of students; most are Hispanic, and half are ESL students. Having the opportunity to observe first grade classroom at Church Street Elementary school showed me the importance of parent partnership as a key to ensuring students' academic, social and emotional success at school. First graders have boundless enthusiasm and energy for learning and fun. Working together helps them learn and grow to their full potential. Also, I noticed that the teaher explains the lesson to her students by using toys and other materials, such as paper clips, cubes, straws, and pencils which are very beneficial for the children's.

The school also offers workshops for parents, as well as book fairs and author visits. This school is public, and its population is 678. Grade levels are from pre-K to 5th grade. The entire school follows a schedule that permits each student to do different activities. Day A is music, Day B is art, Day C is music, Day D is art, Day E is gym and library, and Day F is a gym and computer. In addition, every morning the teacher teaches reading, writing, and math. I noticed that when Ms. Lopez reads in class, she sends students to different places where they receive extra help with English, reading, and speaking.

They also have four computers in the class. While they read, Ms. Lopez sends four students to the computers. They use a web site called www. Raz-kids.com, Where they can select a book they want to read. At the end of the book, there are ...
