Introduction

This essay will discuss the impact of convenant made by Abaraham on the lives of Jacob, Joseph, Isaac and Abaraham. This will reflect the life of each patriarch and how the coveneant affected and guided the decision and attitudes of patriarch. Convenant can be defined as a solemn and a formal binding agreement. It is a promise or agreement under the seal between two parties in response to the performance of some action. It is considered as a common law action which helps in recovering damage and breach of contract. It is also known as a pledge.

Discussion

The beginning of convenant is by Abraham and is given by God as in Genesis 12:1-3 (Ross, 2008). Abraham was to fulfill that he must go from his people and land for a place which God showed him. In the bible dictionary the writer states that there are four elements in the convenants of the bible, conditions, security, results and party. The parties which were associated with convenant were Abaraham and God Almighty and all his descendants (Wenham, Gordan, 2003). The conditions in this case were independent with Abraham going to the land that God would show him. In this case the results were threefold which include that Abraham's seed would be a blessing to others, the promise of land and it will be secured by the Lord God forever.

The convenant in Genesis 12 continues to chapter 15 and 17 and it states that Abraham and his followers should observe the ritual of circumcision and those who fail to follow it would result in the breach of convenant as the person would be brought to an end from the Gods people. Abraham along with other oatriarchs was faithful to obey this order (Genesis 17:12-14 NIV) (Wenham, Gordan, 2003). Isaac led a man who ...
