ABSTRACT

Crime prevention is multi-level and social measures of state aimed at eliminating the causes and conditions of crime or their reduction and thus help in reducing crime. The global problem of crime prevention finds intensive development in the works of well-known legal scholars and social scientists. Crime can be prevented by several preventative strategies; however, the most effective one involves the preventive effect on the dynamics, structure, and causes of crime in general. This is known as social prevention, which is beyond the scope of criminology and is part of the social practice in general, and subject to all of the social sciences and human and crime control. This research study is concerned with these social preventive alternatives for crime. The purpose of this mixed method research is to understand the concept of crime and the criminal acts in the society, analyse the crime prevention strategies used to reduce or eliminate crime, explore the use of punishment as a crime prevention strategy and investigate the social alternatives to crime prevention.
