Introduction

The Supreme Court of United States has stated that juvenile courts must comply with the basic constitutional safeguards for juveniles. These constitutional protections include; notice of the charges, right to cross examine and confront the witnesses, the right to counsel, and the right to stay silent. These laws were enacted into the constitution of the United States through 4th, 5th and 6th amendments. The amendments provided many rights and safeguards to the juveniles. These safeguards include; right to counsel, speedy trial, Miranda Warnings and the exclusionary rule, etc.
