Business Decision Making in IT Company
Research Problem
There is a software development department, in a UK based IT company with labour strength of approximately 200 workers. Peak seasons of the departmental work are identified as March-June and October-December. Since last two years, there has been intensive hiring in the organization for this particular department during its peak season. However, it brought a concern into the notice of subsequent authorities that the organizational turnover rate has been massively contributed by the number of software labour, who voluntarily or involuntarily left the organization.
In addition to the identified problem, it is observed that major labour turnover in the department occurs simultaneously with the intensive hiring procedures during peak time. Hence, the paper emphasizes on investigating reasons and organizational aspects, which have played evident role in inducing employees to leave the organization.
Task 1
Introduction
The task 1 aims at creating a plan for data collection through a resourcesful incorporation of primary and secondary sources. In order to inspect solution for the defined research problem, task 1 provides a survey methodology and sampling technique to gather data. Moreover, it designs a questionnaire survey to find solution to the defined research problem.
Study Design
The paper undertakes a qualitative research approach to recognize the business decision making in an IT company. In the business arena, quantitative and empirical research approach has been found insufficient to answer research questions, in particular questions that are directly related to the labour of an organization. As a consequence, qualitative research gained momentum as an effectual mode of inquiry and inquest (Ospina, 2004, p. 1). The research will be exploratory and open to investigate various aspects of an organization that can intrigue labour turnover.
Research Data Collection Plan
Selected approach of research study will access both primary, as well as secondary approaches to data collection on the issues that cause labour to leave the organization. Primary data source provides authentic information on a specific research problem at hand (Hox & boeije, 2005, p. 593). In particular to the identified organizational research problem, primary instruments of data collection will include questionnaire survey and interview with selected number of employees from the selected IT organization. These instruments will be aimed at drawing understanding of various factors that can play evident role in employee turnover.
On the other hand, secondary data collection tools will be used to collect evidences from prior literature on the specific research problem and to lend assistance from academic researches to find answers to the research question. Secondary sources will include research journals, academic articles, peer-reviewed journals, business magazines, online resources of information, e-libraries, and text ...
