Therefore, the American government formed a department of homeland security. Homeland security is a term which is responsible for the protection of the entire state from all kinds of terrorist activities. It helps the government to prevent from the terrorist attacks and to minimize the damage that has occurred due to the attacks (Bullock, 7). The US homeland security department aims to provide security and defense capability for the United States. The department is responsible for providing various homeland security services specifically related to counterterrorism, border security, preparedness, response, and recovery, immigration, and cybersecurity. The department has multiple information systems that collect, analyze, use, and disseminate intelligence information gathered from throughout the United States.

The homeland security consists of the military activities for preparing, protecting and managing the outcome of the attacks on the nation. It includes the CONUS and US territories and possessions. It involves the actions to safeguard the lives and property of the citizens, the critical infrastructure, the military and government, and installation of the forces (Litan, 55). The homeland security is clearly focused on military activities, as compared to the civilian organization activities, its geographic particularity and the targets it seeks to safeguard.
