Dependent Origin and the twelve links in Buddhism

Introduction

Buddhism started in India in between 6th and 4th centuries BC. Buddhism was founded by Siddhartha Gautama, most famously known as Lord Buddha (the awakened one). According to people who follow Buddhism, Buddha is recognized as an enlightened teacher who shared his insights to help humans get rid of ignorance, craving, and sufferings. Furthermore by recognizing dependent origination and attain Nirvana. Nirvana in Buddhism is a state enlightenment and in this phase of life according to Buddhism believes, a person is considered free from all of the miseries of world. In other words, it is a state, which is free from sufferings.

The twelve links of dependent arising describe the mechanism of regeneration. Rebirth concerns the continuity of the spirit. When people talk about the mind in Buddhism, they do not mean any "thing" in their head, but a constant activity-taking place. Unlike in Western thought, people who follow Buddhism do not distinguish between the mind and heart, or the rational-intellectual aspect of emotionally intuitive. It speaks of a contrast type of activity that includes both sides: the rational and the emotional, thinking and feeling. The Buddhist spiritual notion includes the sense: sight, hearing, smell, taste and experience the physical sensations. What is at stake ultimately is, therefore, is the mental activity of experiencing. This mental activity is always about the experience of something, that mental activity is always content. This mental activity is also an individual, subjective experience of something. This subjective experience continues without interruption, from moment to moment, without any break. Buddhists experience the waking, sleeping, dreaming, and even dying. In addition, the experience has neither beginning nor end.

This is described by the so-called "Twelve Links of Dependent Arising" (Flanagan & Owen, pp. 23-25). In other words, our question is, why do we always go through the uncontrollably recurring rebirth, which is full of problems and confusion? We will also investigate how allowing a correct understanding of emptiness or the reality of it, to break through this uncontrollable repetitive sequence, so that we can finally experience liberation and enlightenment (Wilkinson & Teague, pp. 2-97).

These twelve originates are as follows:

Ignorance

This does not understand the true nature of reality. She is represented by a blind man. One could speak of ignorance "dyed emotions", which arises as soon as the mind experiences an emotion, attachment, aversion, jealousy. Also of ...
