Abstract

The lesson plan chosen is Massage Therapy taken from the American Massage Therapy Association's website. The objective of this lesson plan is to design the patterns for the adult learner, most appropriately for the learners who have a need to learn the secrets of successful marketing of a massage therapy business, and have access to information about fitness centers, health care, franchises and spas. This will help learners who want to reach new customers and revive their practice, find an all-inclusive source for their massage classroom or get information about their career. Every lesson requires good planning strategy for the success in achieving the learning objectives and goals of the students.

Learning Environment

One of the most important ways to create an environment is to create boundaries. Massage therapists perform in a number of settings. The area needed for this will be similar to a restroom as the learner needs to create a safe environment, safe from harm, judgment, and criticism in order to successfully complete the learning process. In this area should be posters and pictures of calm, peaceful and relaxing body structures. Portable equipments are also needed as this will help the therapists to work at homes and office of their clients.

In working alone, in groups or in pairs, the learners will learn how to move alone and how that relates to others in groups and pairs. This is significant in knowing their own aptitudes. The learners will be doing the following:

The activities of this lesson plan are things that need the learner to do more than just think, listen and probably take notes. The first activity mentioned in the lesson plan is the “Icebreaker Activity”. In this activity learners will introduce themselves and tell other learners something about themselves. It is quite a simple procedure but does a lot in starting the social interaction and communication between students. The second activity is a group discussion in setting the norms of the group for the learning environment. This will assist the learners develop a sense of attachment and security to the norms and allows the learners to become more easy with following the norms because they were a part in the creation of those norms.
