The Influence of Disability Movement

Introduction

In the sudden rise of the disability movement and the ideas that have evolved resulting from it are emerging the crucial issues, which reveals that the social services needed to be taken on committee. It is necessary that the all the occupations positively respond to the social model of disability, independent living and civil rights and seek to open up a productive conversation with disabled people and their organizations. Form the last couple of years, there exists two imperative aspects that have changed the perceptions of the entire population towards the disability. The first one was more focused towards considering the disability as a tragedy and suggested that it should be given more assistance for the betterment. The second on is listed as sickness which requires the treatment by taking the medicines. The disabled individuals have disputed that their problems are not happened due to the tragedy but due to the inefficiency of society that it is unable to judge their needs. Therefore, they concluded that they need social change not the charity for assistance. Moreover, it is discussed that sickness and disability are not included in the same thing and a number of our disputes arises which requires the changes the surrounding but not the individual or medical interruptions plan to change or cure the. We should identify that the disabled individuals have not merely been analytical of authorities' perspectives, but they have changed their own perspective to change them as well.

Discussion

The Term disability

The term disability is being misunderstood by different meanings which includes impairments, beside the deficiency to clearly understand the role of sickness. It make clear this point that 'disability benefits' is misused in most of the countries by availing the benefits of disability (OECD, 2003). If the term 'disability' is misunderstood by the word 'impairment' then it would be easy for the people whose level of mental or physical health is enough to make them qualify for the 'disability'. Therefore, benefits should not be applied in this scenario. This consequently leaves the negative impacts against the people who are not included in this sort of case of 'disable person' (Morris, 2011, p. 8)

Most of the people are unable to realize that the disability can be perceived in more than a single way. In fact the most significant thing is that it is not the disability, which has been perceived from the 'Disability Movement'. Everyone is well aware that in life we face different problems which are the barriers to us, like the people with the specific conditions or disabilities. It is actually due to the existing barriers which makes us disable. This happens due to the society, or the non- disable people who actually designed those barriers up (Anonymous, 1997, p.n.d.).
