Illegal drug market in the US is the most profitable market as compared to the other drug markets in the world. Around 19 million, US citizens use the drug illegally once in a month, according to one report of congress the estimated spending on this drug use is around $70 billion per annum. It is the most profitable market for criminals. These huge profitable numbers motivates the drug trafficking business on an international level to operate in US. (Raphael F.P 2006) Drug Trafficking is one of most profitable business in the eye of criminal organizations. Most illegal drug trafficking units are supported by the foreign banks and many other financial institutions to run their business.

Drug and Its Consequences:

Use of drug impacts the people from all social background and country also. Use of the drug is increasing among the American youth. The early use of Drug affects the health of a person, and it creates trouble in social life of a person. Early drug use results in many diseases, for example, a drug use by pregnant women affects the mother and child. It results in the birth defects. According to one medical research the use of drug by pregnant women affect the child after birth which may result in an infant death and many other syndromes.

Drug Trafficking Stats:

Many law enforcement agencies are fighting against this illegal activity and they face a huge challenge on protecting the country border. According to Custom Service of US, Around sixty million people come to the United States through 675000 flights. Many others come from the sea and land and combine figures for both are around 376 million. More than 100 million vehicles cross the land border and ninety thousand container ships enter at the US ports, and 157000 another vessels enter containing the massive trade. Due to this enormous trade by US it becomes easier for drug traffickers to hide their drug types inside it. It contains marijuana, heroin, cocaine and many other drug items.

Drug Consumption among Youth:

Many teenager of America consume marijuana and cocaine; these two are the most common drug types used by American youth. Unfortunately, there is a prediction that in future marijuana consumers will switch to the cocaine. There is one more Drug type named LSD used by many 12th graders, use of this drug affect the mind and nervous system of the body. (Pauline, G. 2006) This can result in many diseases such AIDS. This increasing trend in use of drugs results in many crimes and arrest, for illegally possessing drugs and stealing money for purchasing drugs.

My argument on this topic is how drug trafficking affects the American youth, as the use of the drug is increasing among teenagers due to various reasons. It is important to highlight the solution which may help the America to resolve the drug trafficking issue.
