ABSTRACT

Immigration has substantially increased the racial diversity of population in America. In 1960 when the discriminatory selection policies were eliminated various questions emerged about the impact of cohesiveness on American society became prominent. Within the context of perception of discrimination and unemployment, it has been found to have severe organizational and personal consequences. Economic inequality prevails in America as it comprises of various race, difference in income is strongly justified as the justifications provided are fairly narrow. The argument of this paper deals with the discrimination which is observed in America when minority groups are concerned. Differential rates of earnings growth among and between groups, either racial/ethnic or national origin, do not adequately capture variations in employment status. The study aims to answer about economic inequality and factors that contribute to employment discrimination among minorities. The study is based on secondary research methodology. The findings show that national origin differences in employment status do exist. The study provided the economic inequality and factors that contribute to employment discrimination among minorities. There should be career opportunities provided to the individuals who are talented whether they belong to any minority or class. A future goal of researchers should also be to tease out the policy implications of this line of stratification research.
