Background

Education management is concerned with the study and practice of educational institutions. Education management is centrally concerned with the aims and objectives of education. The goals or objectives provide direction to strengthen the management of educational institutions (Newman & Clarke, 1994, p. 29).

The decisions about the aim of education are the heart of education management. In educational institutions, the aims and objectives are set by the principal of the institution. The principal works in association with senior members and other stakeholders. However, in other educational institutions, setting of goals and objectives is an activity performed by formal and informal bodies.

Educational institutions are faced with constant pressures from the outside environment. In many parts of the world, a national curriculum is made for education which is followed by all educational institutions. In this scenario, educational institutions are left with interoperating the external goals rather than deciding on their own on the basis of the needs of students.

The role of education managers is important in this regard. It is because education management can contribute towards modifying policies and approaches according to the vision and values of educational institutions.

Leadership and management are practical activities. The policy makers and practitioners are dismissive of concepts and theories for the real education situation.

The core purpose of education management is to ensure that the system of education is organised in a manner that education is delivered effectively. In addition, education management also aim to ensure that effective support services are provided to all those learners who are experiencing difficulties in learning and development.

The topic of educational management has been chosen because the researcher believes that changes in management can accommodate changes in the overall educational system. The researcher has chosen this topic in order to gain an insight of education management and its impact on the system of education.

Education change management is a process that requires understanding of objectives. In order to achieve the goal, it is important for education managers to understand how different factors can influence education (AUDEBRAND, 2010, pp. 413).
