Summary of Obama's DNC Speech

President Barack Obama delivered an acceptance speech on Thursday 6th Sep, 2012, in Charlotte. In his speech to the Democratic National Convention, he said that under his presidency the American could create more new jobs by the end of 2016. To achieve this long term goal he will give tax breaks to the companies that will create new high-tech jobs, and he will also help factories and small businesses to double their export (www.nytimes.com). Obama mentioned here that 500,000 jobs have been created since his presidential era. The President proposed to improve early childhood education and to recruit many more math and science teachers over the next few years, in order to improve education level of America. He said he will also give opportunity to 2 million people to learn the job skills at community college, and he will also reduce the college tuition fee. (www.yahoo.com). Obama said that the U.S. could cut oil imports in half of 2020, expand natural gas production, and invest in alternative energy sources, all of which will create more than 600,000 jobs in the country. He mentioned that fuel standards have been raised during his administration, which has made the country less dependent on foreign oil sources. Obama puts a light on climate change and said his energy plan ensures reducing the pollution, causing global warming (www.yahoo.com). He proposed a budget plan that will cut the national debt by $4 trillion. Here Obama criticized Mitt Romney for proposing tax breaks to the wealthy in order to lower the debt. He proposed to reform the tax code so that it would be simple and fair. Obama also said he will reduce the cost of health care to strengthen the program (www.yahoo.com). The President said the America's commitment to Israel's security should remain steady and everyone should remain united against Iran's nuclear ambitions. Obama criticized Romney's comment about Russia's being the U.S. number 1 geopolitical foe showed he is “stuck in a Cold War time warp”. Obama also pointed out that Romney didn't suggest how he will end war in Afghanistan and criticized him for proposing more money to spend on military hardware. Obama proposed to use the money, which isn't spending on war, to pay the country's debt, to create jobs, and to rebuild other damages (www.yahoo.com). Hence, the money will be spending for debt paying and the development of the country. In the last, Obama said to people that presidential election of 2012 is “the clearest choice of anytime in a generation”. He said, “It is not the choice between two parties or two candidates, but the choice between two different paths of America” (www.onecitizenspeaking.com).
