Introduction

It is fact that theater is a symbol of civilization since last centuries. The theater primarily provides entertainment to audience as they used to come to watch dramas. This report will focus on Elizabethan audience. The audience of any theater is comprised of several people who share and differ in many attributes such as likes, dislikes, social statues and background. The report will highlight likes and dislikes of Elizabethan audience. The research showed that theater was considered as extreme amusement because it was an innovation in social life of Elizabethans. However, it was spread like wild fire across the Europe. The historians have classified the audience of Elizabethan theater mainly in two parts that are low income class or poor people and rich or elite class. The poor audience used to stand in the central yard to watch the theater. They used to pay one penny to watch theater under an open sky. On the other hand, the rich audience used to sit in upper galleries and pay more amounts as compared to poor class (Wiles & David, pp. 90).

The Elizabethan audience likes to watch plays full of revenge and murders. The audience likes to watch plays in which story is about a person taking revenge in the play (Wiles & David, pp. 90). The popular plays of that time used to have a person who was taking revenge from his enemies. The audience preferred those plays where one person has witnessed miserable conditions in life because of gangs then the person intend to take revenge from that gang or person (Wiles & David, pp. 90).The audience focused on quality of acting of actor of plays. The quality of acting was the primary base for audience to like any play (Wiles & David, pp. 89). In revenge plays, the story line and reaction of hero were the primary factors to attract audience. The production personals used to give special importance to story line while making a play. The person who had to take revenge from the other party was supposed to give extreme performance because it attracts the audience to high extend (Bulman & James, pp. 158).
