Introduction

Employees in the organizations need direction and guidance along with motivation to effectively get their work done. The major significance of performance management system is that it allows the entire team members to work in collaboration with each other to achieve organizational goals. The processes of performance management which includes counselling, coaching and mentoring allow team members to grow and manage their tasks independently. Thus, the implementation of performance management in organization leads to the strategic development of that organization. In this report management performance characteristics have been analyzed at length. How it is related to team performance. Apart from that, this report will cover three sub-tasks which include effects of personality and emotion on individual behaviour and performance at work, evaluation of effectiveness by using various tools and strategies to improve the effectiveness of the organization by using personality traits. Personality models have been used in this report which identifies the personality traits and emotional intelligence factors which increases the performance of employees in the organizations. Personality traits are being used along with the other assessment tools of employees such as aptitude tests, training and assessment centres, intelligence test and interviews. Moreover, personality traits and emotional intelligence have serious impact on the job performance of employees.

Performance management

Performance management is an uninterrupted and flexible process which includes managers and their associates whom with they can work together to achieve the targets. This process is based on the principles of management which requires consensus based agreement among the employees so that they can work with cohesion, coordination and cooperation to achieve goals. This system underscores the planning of future performance and ways to improve it. To effective apply this concept in the organizations there is a need of dialogue between managers and employees on how they can improve their performance considering all the factors including feedback and self assessment. Performance management is primarily concerned with the performance of individuals and how it can be enhanced to the team members. The focus is on development however, performance management is an integral part of the appraisal system. This system will identify opportunities for the growth of individuals in the organization and further create opportunities and new avenues for success in the organizations.
