Abstract

The result of globalisation, competition and market forces on the quality and quantity of work remains the difficult issue. This study exploits those policies which influence the outcome of NHS and British Red Cross. NHS made the policies, which not only help the organisation in clinical outcomes but also productivity and expenditure too. British Red Cross trains their workforce in order to face any crisis situation. An organisation quality workforce is much flexible than any other organisation.

Introduction

Prices, quantity and quality of health care services are shaped by the competitive interactions and determined by the interaction between buyer and seller. Market competition effect the quality of health care units. There are some policies made by the English government in order to promote strong competition between health care hospitals. According to those policies, information was provided and options were given to the patients. As prices are regulated by the state, so all the organisation competes only for the quality of services provided by them.

In 2006, such payment systems were adopted by the NHS, in which all the hospitals have to pay fixed prices for examining and treating their patients. According to this reform, the local public agencies were responsible for bargaining over prices and output. By the help of this reform, market of hospital moved to a regulated price instead of price determination and the prices of health sector were set by the DRG type of system, which in turn increased the elasticity of demand and competition in the UK. So competitions in the UK increased and turn from prices to quality. Then In competitive markets, hospitals discharged patients in the short time period with the feasible manner and on the same cost.

NHS and British Red Cross Respond to Market Forces

NHS introduced the options given to the patient in January 2006. In this way, patients referred by their GPs and get the services according to their needs. In order to get an excellent output from NHS, government give more autonomy so that more competition increases in health sectors. Under a regulated price regime, NHS gives a strong competition in respect of quality and quantity by introducing NHS reforms. British Red Cross hires the human resource which are full of skills and abilities and give them necessary training according to the modern needs. Organisation provides opportunities to the diverse workforce, which in turn helps them in improving their supply of services to the people in crises. An organisation up to date volunteer knowledge help them to increase their competition with others which in turn increases the firm's output.
