Introduction

Organizations have faced a lot of issues in implementing Enterprise Resource Planning systems successfully. The implementation of Enterprise Resource Planning software in terms of the recurrent changes in the business requires a lot of attentions. The implementation of Enterprise Resource Planning systems should be carefully studies to make it successfully implemented (Leon, 2008, pp.42). The aim of this study is to rectify the occurrence of risk factors in implementation of Enterprise Resource Planning effectively along with how organizations can reduce the risk factors. The elimination of risk factors faced by the organization can be reduced by the successful implementation of Enterprise Resource Planning (O'leary, 2000, pp.10). The study comprises of controls required to be taken by organizations in implementing Enterprise Resource Planning. The main objective of this research paper was to help the managers of the organization so that they could successfully operate, plan and implement Enterprise Resource Planning systems within their organization by using the risk management framework (Bazet & et.al, 2008, pp.75). From early 1990s, the use and implementation of Enterprise Resource Planning has been adopted by many organizations in order to bring innovations in their process and cycle of business to gain a high level performance (Grabski & et.al, 2009, pp.17). Enterprise Resource Planning changed the process of business and brought success to many organizations, but in some organizations suffered failure too. Delay in accruing benefits, cost and the burden of implementation are the major problems faced by organizations related to Enterprise Resource Planning systems (Vinnichenko & Bruch, 2007, pp.09). The overall perception about Enterprise Resource Planning systems is that it can only bring success to the organizations when it is implemented effectively. In the literature review, the different kinds of Enterprise Resource Planning projects risks are discussed in detail (Hellens, 2004, pp.564). The successful Enterprise Resource Planning implementation results from the selection of the right system, top management's commitment, refurnishing of the existing process and integrating Enterprise Resource Planning with other business information systems (Harwood, 2003, pp.14). The characteristics of the risks depend upon its complexity and size. An organization can get succeeded in implementing Enterprise Resource Planning with the risks are handled with effective management, but major task for an organization is to identify the type of risks that can be encountered (Sankar & Rau, 2006, pp.24). Therefore, the effective use of project risk management is used by most of the organization. The project management of Enterprise Resource Planning projects entails of management of the cost, scope about the integration of risk management and time (Gelinas & et.al, 2012, pp.32). Thus, it is necessary for the organization to rectify the risks properly when the project is at the starting phase. The risks should be carefully studied, and different kind of measures should be adopted to reduce them (NAH, 2002, pp.94).
