ERP System for CQ University Merger

Executive Summary

This report aims at examining the Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) of the merger acquisition of CQ University and the CQ TAFE. It will evaluate the essentials associated with the ERP systems within an organization, focusing the universities. The basic concept of ERP is discussed pertaining to its importance for the organizations.

The analysis of the universities associated to the merger acquisition reveals that the ERP systems of both the universities is entirely different considering the managing processes and the relevant aspects of supervision. Therefore, the success of merger requires the university to cope with these issues. These flaws and vulnerabilities are required to be eliminated form the management.

On the basis of these requirements, the university has two options of either employing a new ERP system or upgrade the existing system to match the compatibility with the other university. Evaluating the factors associated with the problems of a new ERP system, the university is suggested to implement changes in its current ERP system, with the deployment of Shadow System.

Based on this proposed system, the benefits and challenges associated with the system are also discussed in this report, so that the merger could be a successful attempt by the university. Still, the university management needs further considerations for improving the performance in serving the society with lessening the cultural impacts and emphasizing the collaborative efforts in all the departments of the university.

The recommendations for the success of merger include the best availability of facilities to all the students coming from different backgrounds for minimizing the cultural impacts. Moreover, the social class getting disruptive impressions of the merger also need better approach to the knowledge and information. Therefore, the staff and all the members should be supportive to the best possible level so that the students might not get irritated with the change management. All in all, the merger is assumed to be the successful one for becoming the top class University of Queensland dealing with the thriving nature of dual sector.

Introduction

This report examines the merger of CQ University and CQ TAFE in terms of the ERP systems present there. Both the universities have different ERP systems, which has created a conflicted situation for both the universities. This report presents an argumentative analysis of the ERP systems, suggesting the CQ University to modify its existing ERP system, making it compatible with that of CQ TAFE's ERP System. This will assist the organization in running the system more easily as compared to the problems associated with two different ERPs in one organization.

The mergers require utmost care in all the aspects of the management and processes as little flaws cause severe consequences to the participants of the merger acquisition.
