I first became interested in joining the U.S. Service Academies and serving in the U.S. Armed Forces when I received a letter from the United States Merchant Marine Academy football program, inviting me to the academy on the basis of my athletic and academic achievements. Consulting with parents is of prime importance to me, their views and values count a lot in pursuit of success. I consulted my parents and soon realized that, a career serving with the United Sates Merchant Marines would provide me greater opportunities of doing something for my community and country. Country is like a mother, feeding us and raising us; it is our responsibility to return some of its favors. I had this in mind for a long time, to give back to nation after getting so much from it. It's a win-win situation for me, since I will be pursuing education in one of the most prestigious academies, while I will be serving for my country by joining U.S. Service Academies and serving in the U.S. Armed Forces. United States Merchant Marine Academy is home to brilliant minds of the country and it will be an honor to be a part of it. The history of the United States Merchant Marine Academy intrigues me. It is because these merchant marines, that we stand here as a super power in the world. I want to be a part of this legacy. The initial spark that intrigued me to United States Merchant Marine Academy is now turned into a flare. The initial thoughts were excitement, but now they are now my ambition.

The academy demands a dexterous candidate with moral grounds of self-actions combined with high performance in academic life. The Athletic experience I have gained over the years provides me a perfect platform needed to succeed at the academy. I have learned to to play role as a team player and have also been in many leadership positions. The element of being proactive and leadership is my inherited ability, which I have polished and capitalized on throughout my academic and athletic career. I want to face challenges in my life to see my own potential. Exceeding my own record levels is my goal. I don't compare myself to others. I believe in improvement and learning. I enjoy breaking my own records. I am aware of the tradition at United States Merchant Marine Academy. I want to challenge myself, mentally and physically.

United States Merchant Marine Academy is an ultimate desire of those who believe in creating synergy by joining hands with such prestigious academy for their beloved land. This opportunity is such an ambition in my mind, I will give United States Merchant Marine Academy, whatever I have, and I will take all the legacy, training, education, and sports experience back with me.
