Introduction

Project management is the process planning, scheduling, evaluating, and implementing the whole process by prescribed parameters with on which project has to be completed. The project management is done by applying various tools and techniques with estimated time, scope, budget, and performance. The success of any project will be derived on these the full utilization of human and mechanical resources. The role of project manager is very critical; he has to be very responsible in defining the task at every level, building effective team to perform efficiently with the scarce resources. There are certain rules in the whole process of project management, including the people working on a project should involve in the planning, secondly creating the deadlines of the project which means it has a starting and ending point, a budget, a clear definition of job to be performed. In managing the project six steps are to be followed for successful accomplishment, which consist of defining the problem, developing solution to the problem, planning the project, evaluating the project, executing the project, controlling and assessing and lastly closing the project(James & Lewis, 2007)

There are some barriers attached at every step of project management which requires the project manager to adopt a clear and concise approach in planning the complete process. The planning of the process should be done in accordance with its vision and mission and set objectives which are specific, measurable, attainable, and realistic and time specific. A work structure must be prepared to keep all the activities of work flow aligned and co-ordinate. After the completion of a project it has to be evaluated on set parameters at the start of the project. A project is different from operation and program as it has unique deliverables and its techniques are not repetitive. The process of project management should be well integrated at all levels to avoid failure situation at the end of the project. (Phillips, 2006)

A project manager provide extensive services by defining the objectives, balancing the competing demand for time, budget, and cost, in order to achieve all the multi faceted responsibilities the project manger work as an leader, administrator, entrepreneur, co-ordinate, facilitator and mediator. Before starting the actual work on project, project management plan has to be prepared by the project manager. This plan is documented roadmap comprising of all the concerns related to monitoring and evaluating the project which include creating project work, breakdown structure, planning to mitigate risk. The project management plan will vary based on size, complexity, risk, and/or sensitivity of the project. The plan should be prepare in effective manner to communicate with customers, stakeholders, and sponsors.

The whole process starts with initiating by defining approach, creating the plan, conducting meeting to execute, monitoring and controlling the process, managing the project where variances are found, reporting and analyzing the project, procure customer acceptance and finally conducting project completion review which is the part of closing process.
