Introduction

Ethics

Ethics can be described as a set of principles that differentiates amidst what is acceptable and what is unacceptable. The school of ethics is said to have an objective that is twofold. The first objective is the evaluation of the practices of humans on the premise of moral standards and secondly it tends to narrate about how the situation should be tackled when it comes to a situation. Ethics, by all means, is aimed at the analysis of the behaviour in terms of what is moral and what is immoral so that the judgement passed is well-founded. Furthermore, it tends to aid in arriving at adequate recommendations. There are times when the term ethics is utilized in place of morality. Therefore, an action that is said to be morally correct can also be defined as an action that is ethically right. Ethical codes are also defined as codes of morality and hence business morality can also be termed as business ethics (Oldies, pp. 8-11).

Business Ethics

Ethics in business is said to be a branch that examines ethical principles and rules amidst the context of commercialism; the numerous ethical or moral problems that can occur when it comes to a business setting; and any special obligations or duties that are applicable when an individual tends to indulge oneself in the commerce. At a general level ethics can be defined as a discipline that is normative by nature whereby standards f ethics are developed and then implemented. It tends to make specific judgments in relation to what is apt and what is inapt and in other words they tend to claim about what ought not to be committed and what ought to be committed. In summary, ethics in business is concerned with what is bad and what is good, what is wrong and what is right or what is unjust and what is just (Oldies, pp. 8-11).
