What is morality?

The book talks about ethics in every aspect of life. I found the book very interesting. The lessons I learned from the book by Thiroux and discussed briefly as follows. Morality can be found anywhere in the world. It would not take me very far off when the determination is to take into focus something's that can be said by the heart. The marginalization of ethics and morality has assumed two particular forms: a relative neglect of ethics and morality as social phenomena for sociological analysis and a parallel avoidance of potentially controversial ethical and moral matters within the practice of social enquiry.

The term Morality is described by Thiroux as the vast arena of human conduct that examines our interaction with other human beings. It looks into moral implications of his actions and the justifications for using “good end” of morality in the wake of the surgeon's actions. It should be noted that morality requires perfect knowledge of the person to perceive that there is only a moral act, which is the good that is presented to the right reason and the will which it operates (Singer, 2009).

Natural Law Ethical Theory

This is extremely helpful in aiding us to understand the human actions that are morally right or wrong. Every human has some sense that enables him to understand what is right or wrong. Similarly, with reference to abortion the natural law ethical theory enables people to distinguish right from wrong. According to Thiroux theory, there is no such thing that is known as “neutral ethics” or “perfect ethics”. This is because ethics for every individual is different and this because some humans think one thing is ethical while the other might think it to be unethical. Ethics differs from person to person and from country to country as well. This is the reason why some countries have made abortion legal while some have not. Even in the United States, it was not legal initially but later onwards, it was made legal. The three considerations that are made in this theory are mentioned below.

1.The act itself - This determines whether the act is good or evil because abortion can be considered evil. However, chemotherapy can be good.

2.The motive - The reasons of getting a baby aborted can vary from person to person. Some of these are to kill the baby, to avoid disgrace, to cure a disease which is deadly or for the purpose of family planning.

3.The circumstance - This refers to intercourse with a willing spouse or forcibly with a stranger (Singer, 2010).

Egoism

Ethical egoism argues that one should always do what is in the best position. Ethical egoists claim that (only) the actions of homo economics are ethically appropriate.
