Information Technology Systems and Its Influence on Management and Strategy

Introduction

The ability of any organization to excel depends primarily on the level of knowledge of its managers. The type of knowledge can be based on their experience, qualification and technical expertise. According to Qing and Hoffman (2011), an organization's ability to transfer information across all its employees is important because it allows the organization to be competitive. Lapointe and Rivard (2012) state that an “information technology system plays this key role of information transfer and it is a necessity of every organization to use this technology for it to prosper” (pp. 897). This particular factor has encouraged many organizations to make huge investments in Information Technology systems.

According to Kunsoo et al. (2011), information technology can be described as the use of computers and other telecommunication systems to input stored and manipulated data. Information technology (IT) systems are among the most vital technological components of any excelling organization as they help increase the efficiency and effectiveness of the various business processes. IT systems are even more important in companies that use them in production and development of various products. The various products refer to the company's items in the case of manufacturing company. Internet-based IT systems also make communication easier, especially in today's networked global environment. Yet, information technology systems can be a source of problems for any organization if they are not properly managed.

Methodologies

According to Karimi et al. (2001), customer satisfaction is largely dependent upon the working of the information systems of the organization. The investment in customer relationship management technologies and the incentive associated with it is largely dependent upon the improved results of index ratings of the customer satisfaction. The work of these researchers is focused upon identifying whether IT management and strategizing in different firms have played an influential role in the transformation of operations, marketing or both which has improved the overall experience of a customer or not.
