Facebook did not only provide a platform to the people to enhance their relationships with family and friends and make new friends and acquaintances but it has also provide to be a social networking site that enhance the businesses. In this way, the Facebook has become the largest online social networking site in the internet world (Shih, 2009). It focuses on enabling the people to connect with each other and share information that leads to the strengthening of their relationships. Facebook was created by mark Zuckerberg in the year 2004. Initially, it started with the aim to enable people to share their photos with each other particularly with their relatives and friends who are living away from them. Soon after the launch of the Facebook, people joined in the social network.

The members were limited in the initial phase particularly the students of the school of mark Zuckerberg because he wanted to create a platform where his old school fellows could meet online and share their experiences and initiate chat with each other. The general public was allowed after the popularity of the Facebook (Cusumano, 2012). The public belonged to the diverse range of cultures and groups both inside and outside the United States of America. According to the founder of Facebook Mr. Mark Zuckerberg, he wanted to make the world more open and the people closer to each other around the world. The Facebook also attracted several businesses around the world that could easily carry out their business on the platform of Facebook. It appealed to the business them and lead towards the popularity of the Facebook. This paper discusses the reasons that lead towards the attainment of superior performance of Facebook. It analyzes the strategies of Facebook over the years that have lead to the achieving of goals and objectives by the organizations and the achievement of competitive advantage in the internet world. The specific strategies of Facebook are analyzed that provides an evidence of the achievement of superior performance by Facebook (Piskorski et al., 2011).

The Facebook enabled the users to allow the sharing of their photos and information with each other and it has been considered as the greatest tool for attracting the members towards Facebook. In the September of 2011, there were around 800 million users of Facebook that are spread around the world.
