Comparison of Movies from the Class

The Man without a Past by Aki Kaurismaki

The Man without a Past is one of the most effective and curious movies a person could ever watch. The reason behind this is that the movie travels from one plot to another with such a fluent story movement. Briefly describing the movie's background and its story, the movie revolves around the recognition of self by a man badly beaten up.

Markku Peltola is the main character who is declared dead when he is beaten up and delivered to the hospital. However, it is later found out that he is actually alive but he has lost his memory due to amnesia from shock. He is taken in by a family and starts to live his life with a mother and her two sons.

As the movie progresses, Markku finds himself at many different points where he is required to make some decisions and select how his life would turn up to be. He gets involved in a bank robbery and when arrested the police are unable to identify him. They finally publish his picture for recognition and his wife finds out about him and contacts him.

The movie works on the display of the development of feelings between people. In a nutshell, two couples live nearby with their spouses regularly out of town or home.

The style adopted by Kar Wai Wong with reference to the movie's direction is entirely unique as with the passage of the movie, these two ...
