Overview of praxis

Praxis can be considered as an effective basis of nursing. It can also be described as the medium to take nurses on continuous professional growth. Nurses are a part of worldwide development and are working as a contributor as well as a user of information (ROLFE, 2007). There are various challenges for nurses regarding their work or a part of this advanced society. To deal with these challenges, a way forward is through the use of praxis as nursing foundation (Rolfe, 2006).

Nursing praxis is not limited to nursing actions only, but it is also about philosophical activity in the context with consequences and evaluation. It makes the nursing actions enable for the information and future nursing practice. Nursing praxis can also be defined as a productive term to know about the development of knowledge and its use within the practice (Rolfe, 2006). Some researchers described praxis as a necessary element to create a vision for the future of the nursing profession (Kilpatrick, 2008).
