Different Crops Resistance Against Fusarium Disease

Introduction

The crops are the basic food source of the human being. With the increases in population all around the world, the need of the crops has also increased to the great extent. The crops are being grown in massive quantities by the farmers and the agriculturalists in order to meet the increasing demands of the crops. There are a number of diseases present that affect numerous plants and crops. Despite of the use of various fertilizers and pesticides by the famers, the large amount of crops is destroyed by the diseases that cause the shortage of the crops. Among various crop diseases, the fusarium disease is the most common disease that is found in most of the crops. There are various methods that are used by the agriculturalists in order to eliminate or to reduce the impact of fusarium disease upon the crops.

The following section aims at discussing in detail about the fusarium disease and it will also be discussed that what various research studies have found about the fusarium disease in the crops. In the later section some of the fusarium disease resistant crops will also be discussed along with the measures that can assist the agriculturalists in avoiding the impact of fusarium disease upon the crops.

Discussion

There are a variety of ways that are used to reduce and to eliminate the impact of fusarium disease upon the agricultural products. These various ways involve the cultural as well as the latest technologies. The latest and modernized technologies make the use of chemical and biological controls so as to manage and control the prevailing of diseases in the crops. There are various food crops in which the fusarium disease develops its roots. Some of the disease control measures are more effective and helpful in fighting against the fusarium diseases in the crops, whereas, some of the diseases control measures are less effective. The most effective and the latest approach that is being used by various agriculturalists is the Integrated Pest Management (IPM) system that allows the agriculturists to control the prevailing of diseases in the crops. In the Integrated Pest Management system, the agriculturalists use the combinations of various kinds of the chemical and the fertilizers so as to decrease pesticide impact upon the crops. Along with a number of latest chemical fertilizers, there are certain cultural methods that are still used in present age (Indu, S., 2012, pp. 119). The fusarium disease is a kind of fungus that decreases the resistance power of the crops and thus decreases the potential vitamins and minerals within the crops (Gian, T., Mugnozza, E., 1999, pp. 306).

The fungal disease that is called fusarium disease creates various harmful diseases upon the plant that not only damages the crops but also it affects the nutrient characteristics of the crops. The fusarium disease is also most commonly known as the cucurbits that belong to the family Cucurbitaceae. Some of the fusarium disease is responsible for the ...
