ANS 1.

The Ancient Greek's geography has had a significant effect on the history of Greece. The city was situated at a place which had an ideal Mediterranean climate and the mountains divided the city-states. The winters were supposedly wet and mile but still offered the growth of olives and grapes. Summers on the other hand were dry as well as warm. Even though the cultivation was very difficult, the Greeks easily managed to trade what they required and could not grow. This was due to the fact that the city was surrounded by sea. Due to the unique placement of the states, separated by mountains, there was very little interaction between cities and rivers flowed between cities. This was also one of the major reasons why ancient Greece never completely united. The sea was the main source of building economy for the Greece. It had numerous skilled sailors with hundreds of bays around. The main trade items were oil, wine, metals, grain, marble, technologies as well as philosophies.

ANS 2.

Polis is a term nearly always used for city-states. The origination of the word was during the archaic period from the city-states in Ancient Greece. It was basically the result of natural changes in land with the mountains providing the division and sea covering it. The polis was considered to the center town. It contained a citadel on a higher ground as well as a market place.

The city of Sparta was considered to be a society which revolved around military life. The children of Sparta, at the age of 7 years were supposed to be taken away for training them to become warriors.
