Green Technology

Introduction

Green technology has not been defined yet properly. However, it can be defined as the technology which encompasses potential for considerably improving environmental performance. Environmentally sound technology can be another name for this technology. These green technologies help in protecting the environment and provides less polluted environment in the society. These technologies use all sources in a very sustainable way and reprocess more products and wastages and manage residual waste in even more satisfactory way as compared to the technologies for which they are being used as an alternative (Foroudastan & Dess, 2006).

Green technology deals with a wide area of consumption and production technologies. The use and adoption of green technologies incorporates the utilization of environmental technologies for assessment and monitoring, pollution control and prevention and restoration and remediation. Assessment and monitoring technologies are being used for measuring and tracking the environment's condition including the emission of anthropogenic of natural materials of a damaging nature. In green technology, prevention technologies help in avoiding the creation of such substances which are environmentally hazardous or adjust human activities in such manner that reduces any harm to the environment. Green technologies are also familiar with the name of low carbon, climate smart and climate friendly technology (Hesselbach &Herrmann, 2011).

Discussion

Although, the implementation and use of green technology is expensive and difficult to handle; but all industries must employ this green technology in order to enhance the environmental conditions. As the use of green technology is environmentally friendly and it encourages changes and innovation within the society; thus, many industries including car industry, construction industry and many other industries are using it in order to provide improved environmental conditions. Three types of technologies are used in green technology. These technologies include green building, green energy and green transportation. Environmental pollution is being diminished in order to control global warming by using green technology in many operations in the society. Unlike fossil fuels, renewable energy source is the green energy which produces eco-friendly energy. Although, the use of green technology is unaffordable; but it is being used because it lessens emission of greenhouse gases (Foroudastan & Dess, 2006).

It is clear from the above figure that buildings have the largest proportion in energy consumption. Thus, timber designs must be used in building constructions in order to reduce carbon dioxide emissions from the atmosphere (Rizzo, et.al., 2010).

Electricity generation with the help of renewable energies is increasing with the passage of time. As the demand of electricity is increasing; thus, solar power or other type of renewable energy is being used for producing electricity. This use of solar energy for production of electricity is reducing emission of carbon dioxide gases or other greenhouse gases in order to make the environment pollution free (Hesselbach &Herrmann, 2011).

Green Energy

According to research, it has been observed that in the last hundred years, our planet experienced the rise in its temperature by 0.5°C. The increment in the temperature of our planet is because of the increment in concentrations of greenhouse ...
