Literature Review

The conflict and clash in the area of Palestine dates back to a number of years, with the land being the bone of contentions between the Israelis and Palestinians, with each of them refusing to give up. It is essential to note that there are various factors playing their part in deterioration of the situation, thus preventing the prevalence of peace in the region and resulting in continuation of conflict in the zone (Clauset, Heger, Young and Gleditsh, 2010, Pp: 6- 33).

The issue basically emerged in the 20th century, the wide ranging conflict that arouse between the Zionist Yishuv and the Arab population living in the area, under the Ottoman and then under the British rule. The major issues and existing in the area include the conflict regarding boarders, security, mutual recognition, and control of Jerusalem, water rights as well as the Israeli settlements and the Palestinian movements (Elmasry, Shamy, Manning, Mills, and Auter, 2013, Pp: 125- 127). The same issues have also led to the development of refugee issue, combined with the widespread of violence and agitation in the area that did not only led to the arousal of concerns regarding human rights and security but at the same time, also gained attention of the national as well as international non-government organizations. It is essential to note that the expansion of violence has not only led to the deterioration of peace situation in the region but at the same time, it has also affected the situation of tourism and has affected the historic sites that were present in the area (Kaufman, Salem and Verhoeven, 2006).

It should be taken into account that besides the political and strategic reasons, there are religious reasons embedded in the issue, and the same issues form basis of the feeling of hatred between the Israelis and the Palestinians (Agbaria, 2013). The Palestinians, which includes both Christians and the Muslims (with Muslims being in majority), have serious and grave religious conflicts with the Israelis with Zionist majority. According to the Palestinians belief, the Israelis have taken over their land and seek to establish their own religious base in the area, thus proclaiming the Palestinians land for the Jews and making efforts to remove the natives from the land (Clauset, Heger, Young and Gleditsh, 2010, Pp: 6- 33).
