Definition of Health Promotion

The concept of promotion of health is derived from the elucidation of cultural and social health, and diseases. The promotion of health is the procedure to make people able to obtain better control over their fitness and well being. It is a vibrant and growing concept denoting the health management of individuals in their everyday lives' perspective. The concept of health promotion encourages the achievement of the maximum level of physical, psychological, and societal growth. Tones (2001) described health promotion as a procedure of allowing individuals to amplify command on, and to make their health better.

One more definition that describes the health promotion recommends that health promotion is the procedure of facilitating the people and societies to increase command on the determinants of fitness and well being, and thus to enhance their health status. It incorporates qualification, prevention, where people function in harmonization to strategies, structures, and standards of living, by means of support, authorization, and developing a system of social support that make them capable to survive an extensive vigorous breathing.

Under these definitions, the promotion of health is a method of making people competent to encompass higher authority for creating their own preferences for improvement of their health. Determinants of promotion of health have been recognized in the initial definition, while the other definition lays emphasis on the constituents of promotion of health that promotes the competency of people for the purpose of improving their health conditions.
