Comparison of the U.S. Health Care System with UK Health Care System

Introduction

A proper system for health care is very important for any community, and the status of health in a society is unswervingly correlated to the standard of life in a society. This report would examine and compare two of the most developed systems of healthcare of the globe, the NHS, i.e. National Health Service of UK, and the system health care in America. This systems of health-care were established on eminent paragons and up to date, these health care system have been capable of bringing positive results to a huge degree. In this report, we have compared the health care system of UK and USA and have compared the different factors like infant mortality rate, per capita spending in USA and UK, etc.

Discussion

The functions of the health care systems in UK and USA are essentially very similar; both of them have an aim to promote the level of fitness and improve the overall health of the society. Both of them have made unparalleled contributions to their respective fields by handling the process of care of groups and individuals, either well or sick, and they have been working in relationship with patients and their families. These systems have played a very important role in things like providing proper education to patients and their families regarding processes of managing diseases, promoting engagement of the patient in the decisions regarding their personal health and aligning care with the multidisciplinary team. The perspective of health care in United Kingdom

In UK, the PCT, i.e. Primary Care Trust has employed nurses from the society; which consists of health visitors, district nurses, and nurses from different schools. The district nurses are nurses, who have registered themselves to render services for nursing at the home of the patient like the agency services in America. They provide services of nursing care, recommendations, and assistance for patients and care takers in homes or in nursing clinics. Health visitors could be described as registered nurses, who have to provide care for pediatric people. (Klein, 1995)

The U.S. perspective

In America, nurses from the community have the option to work within the service businesses of the community of their own interest. Some examples of settings of service to the community include care centers in the community, continuous or intermittent visits by the nurse for home care, or school nursing. In addition, nurses could select the aggregate and/or specific populations of patients in accordance with their own expertise, which would include treatment of children and women, and infusion or patients with specific disease, like congestion heart failure, asthma, diabetes, etc. The process of referral for home care and compensation wealths are managed and regulated by a number of governing, accrediting, and financing bodies in the USA.
