ABSTRACT

The purpose of conducting this research was to investigate the Spain is regarded as one of the impacts of Mass Tourism on Benidorm due to the frequent visit of United Kingdom tourists. Spain is the one of the highly preferred tourism destination for tourists living in Europe. Spain is especially well-known for its mass tourism destinations. Benidorm, Torremolinos and Lloret del Mar are the popular mass tourism destinations of Spain. In few decades Spain has become the reference point for the destinations of mass tourism and large scale resorts (Holloway and Taylor 2006 25). The research questions for the study were: What are the main factors behind the decision making process for the mass tourism destination? and What are the factors which attract United Kingdom tourist towards Benidorm, Spain? Community stakeholders play a significant role in the success or failure of a tourism industry. If local residents' perceptions or preferences do not support tourism development then such efforts are likely to be ineffective or even fail. Consequently, the development of goals and strategies for tourism initiatives include the participation of local residents in the decision making process. Despite its absence in the tourism literature, the concept of attitude importance has been shown as an important factor influencing social perceptions and behaviour. Structured interview was conducted for getting views and expressions of tourists towards Benidorm City and the impact of mass tourism on its economy. When the interview was conducted the respondents were having an opinion that most of the United Kingdom tourists visit Benidorm city, as it offers effectives tourism packages and offers to the tourists who wish to visit it. The tourism industry is offering effective support to all the visitors through providing them accommodation and travel guide facility.
