Impacts of the Vietnam Conflict

Abstract

The Vietnam War was the most significant conflict of the war. The strategy failed for two reasons: the Vietcong was doing a guerrilla war and not, as supposed U.S., a conventional war, and unacceptable for the U.S. losses were perfectly acceptable to the Vietnamese. The U.S economy took a beating as a result of the war, since a huge amount of $ 111 billion was splashed out on the war between 1965 and 1975, resulting in a significant federal budget deficit.

The impact of the Vietnam War can still be felt in Vietnam today, as a result of chemical defoliation tactic used by the U.S military. Most American soldiers were addicted to drugs, guilt over his role in the war and deliberately used cruel and inhumane tactics. Numerous individuals and assemblies included in the development were occupied with sharp banters about the course, the method and development strategies. Some of these civil arguments had definitive results for the development and the war itself. The fact of what the U.S. was not accustomed to guerrilla tactics employed by the Viet Cong and the misguided strategy of using their superior firepower also played an important role in the withdrawal of American troops from Vietnam.

None of the vital interests were found at stake (McNamara and VanDeMark, 1996). There was worse situation, and perfectly aware of this, its top leaders were unwilling or unable to stop it. USA inherited from France due to which a war of decolonization became an ideological war. It completely lost sight of the original reasons for the conflict, and control of rice, tin and turned it into an ideological war that was moved only by the prestige and bureaucratic interests.

Mao's victory in China in 1949 dramatically changed the situation in the former colonial regions of Tonkin, Annam and Cochin. It had been a French colonial problem, and suddenly acquired an unprecedented strategic importance for the West. France tried to resolve the conflict, but the internal situation in the early time period, French strategy was an effective strategy that became unfeasible after some time (Ives, 2012).
