Introduction

The paper will discuss the Information Security Program in the Department of Veteran Affairs. Department of Veterans Affairs U.S. is the executive department of the United States government. It is the second largest after the Federal Ministry of the Ministry of Defense, employing about 280,000 people. The competence of the Ministry includes registration of life insurance, mortgages, pension and benefits for the veterans of the U.S. armed forces and their families. In this paper, we have to prepare a high level summary of an information security program incorporated in the Department of Veteran Affairs United States.

Discussion on the Information Security

Recently, the Department of Veteran Affairs has proposed a plan for the protection of information technology infrastructures as an umbrella strategy for internet security. The phenomenon of cyber crime has been increased in the last decade. The viruses in computer, hacking the computer networks and cyber crime may result in huge financial losses, undermine confidence in online services and may great harm to the country's economy. If the departments do not secure the important digital networks, there may be a threat to the public and national safety. Now, the country is facing a global problem that requires a joint approach; since cybercriminals can attack from anywhere (John, 2009).

Most of the internet users have changed their behavior because of the concerns regarding the safety of the network according to a recent survey. To reverse this trend, the department of veteran affairs has now developed a comprehensive strategy for the security of digital networks in the department to protect from cybercrime. A common approach would help better in protecting the network against attacks and would largely reduce the crime rate.
