Introduction

This paper is going to deal with “Development through the Lifespan” by Laura Berk is developed in a manner that it gives an overview of diverse array of various theories. Human development is discussed in different stages throughout for giving a better understanding of what is the core content which is development through the lifespan. The discussion is also going to deal with the real life experience of an individual who has been interviewed.

Discussion

As stated by Berk, (2011) measure periods of human development are recognized as being involved of eight periods.

Prenatal: Conception of Birth: This is where a cell converts into human baby in the womb of female adult.

Infancy and toddlers: Birth to 2 years: A dramatic change where the body and brain is transformed with newer array of abilities which are related to the physic and intellect of the individual.

Early childhood: 2 years to 6 years: These are the playing years and the years when the basic like language and morality and other such expansions are seen.

Middle childhood: 6 years to 11yeras: These are the school years. Here the individuals are involved in social groups and has so many developments with respect to it athletic and educational learning's

Adolescence: 11 years to 20 years: Puberty in this age is what lead the individuals are transformed towards sexual maturity. At this level education, sex and other important stuff on the life are taken on a much serious note.

Early adulthood: 20 years to 40 years: this is the stage where people look for long-term work as well as civil relations. Partnerships, developing a family and setting standards for a better life style are the core focus of this age.

Middle Adulthood: 40 years to 60 years: at this level most of the individuals are in a better level with respect to their careers. Mostly in these years the core focus is to help children who are in their initial years.

Late Adulthood: 60years to death: this is the phase their physical strength is reduced substantially. People are mostly retired by then and reflect on the meaning of their lives (Berk, 2011).

Discussion on the lifespan perspective has made the content enriched later on. The discussion on human development through the Lifespan can be studied in a more focused manner by having a look on the following developmental experiences which are involved of following developments throughout the eight stages discussed above:

Moral

Each one of the above is related to life stages, the physical development is on its peak in the prenatal stage where a human body is actually formulated from a small cell to a living creature. Cognitive development is later contributed most in the early years which are of infancy and toddler era. Early childhood and middle childhood deals with the social development.
