The three actors in this video are Susan J Elliot, Jacob Weiss, Dr.Paula Stern. Miss Stern and Mr.Weiss are arguing on the issue on the abuse of child care.The communication concepts outlined in this video are:Selective and automatic attention, Barrier to listening, Effective verbal communication, Effective listening, Ethical listening. They are discussed below in detail:

The selective and automatic attention in this video are discussed. Communication is an aspect of our everyday life. Communication involves micro, macro, and global levels of our society and culture. Without communication, we would not be able to do our everyday tasks such as going to work or having a relationship. There are a variety of interpersonal skills that can be used to communicate with each other. In the video, several interpersonal skills are shown. Some of these interpersonal skills are Interpersonal Communication Competence (ICC). Some examples of ICC are range of skills; adapt communication, dual perspective, monitoring and ethical. Another interpersonal skill is the Non-verbal Language. Some non-verbal communication includes kinesics, paralanguage, and silence. The third interpersonal skill is Active Listening.As seen in the video the communication between Mr. Weiss and Miss. Stern is about the child care. The communication can be related. Living together also known as cohabitation is quickly becoming the union of choice especially so for young persons in the U.S.A.Cohabitation is being viewed as a choice due to the high rate of divorce while ironically it may be a contributor to these high rates of divorce. The purpose of this video is to comparatively analyze living together and getting married.

EFFICIENCY

In this video the process of communication has some barriers to listening. This happens between Miss. Stern and Mr. Weiss. The sender has an idea/information/message, which he transmits to the receiver through different mediums capable of being perceived by the receiver. The receiver then takes the message interprets it and then responds with a feedback. The process of communication is not said to be complete unless and until a respond is obtained from the receiver. The problems that do not allow proper flow of communication within an organization are known as barriers to communication. The barriers/hurdles to effective communication cannot be completely eradicated, but can be minimized to a great extent to allow effective communication.There are various types of communication barriers, some of which are discussed here:Interpersonal barriers are those barriers that arise within the sender and the receiver, for e.g. if in a discussion, one person is biased towards topic being discussed, then the outcome of that discussion will be affected by that factor itself that it was biased.Emotional barriers like strong feelings of hatred, anger, etc damage the interaction between the sender and the receiver in numerous ways. After understanding the barriers of effective communication the problems of communication and related issues in the case of Miss Stern and Mr. Weiss can be identified.
