Introduction

After World War II ended in an Allied victory, there was an economic boom in the United States which escaped the war practically unscathed. With a large number of Americans gathering massive amounts of wealth, numerous counter-culture movements were born and these reshaped the cultural fabric of the country. This paper sheds light on the development and popularity of two such movements.
