Introduction

Moscow is the capital of Russia with the unique cultural values, historical heritage. It has the leading role in the political and economic life, in the country. It is also the largest centre of the tourism within the country. Despite the fact that, Moscow has all features necessary for making it a favourite tourist's spot, the city has remained not much famous for attracting tourists. In this essay, we will highlight the main issues faced by the tourism industry in Moscow. We also discuss provisions of emerging destinations within Moscow and the chances of development of the tourism industry in the future.

Discussion

Moscow, the capital of Russia is one of the largest tourist centers in the world. The number of tourists visiting the city is growing each year. It is expected that, in the near future, their number will rise to 7 million, including five million foreign tourists. The city has many worth seeing locations; the city is also the major financial centre of the country.

For attracting tourists, Russia has a large number of cultural and natural attractions. The city has quite developed air transport infrastructure. However, the city does not have good quality of roads and hotels for accommodating international tourists. Often, the tourists also complaint that hotels are too expensive for the quality they provide. There are also serious issues for obtaining a visa for the country. These along with many other issues, affect the tourist industry of the city badly, and tourism's contribution to the overall economy of the country remains low.

Though the tourism industry has declined in all over the world in past few years due to excessive recession and inflation rates, but Moscow is among one of the most seriously affected cities. One of the reasons is that few years ago, tourism was not a priority for the Russian government. However, in recent years, government and tourism officials are involved in developing the layouts and plans for attracting more tourists to the city. They have been busy in designing the strategies which could help in increasing the number of tourists to the city. These strategies include renovation and improvement of existing tourist's attractions, building of distinctive spots, and improvement of facilities for the tourists. In the end of 2011, the government announced multi-billion dollar plans to improve infrastructure, as well as to launch advertising campaigns to attract tourists to the city.

Future of Moscow's Tourism Industry

Moscow, in fact, has a number of advantages for developing tourism, such as the rich culture, history and great architectural landmarks. These features makes Moscow stand in the top-five, in a research survey of tourist destinations that hold great potential for the future.
