Laboratory Report

Introduction

Electrical Engineering Fundamental Labs consists of 12 laboratory workstations. This lab taught us how to set up resistors in the series and parallel on the XK 150 kit breadboard. While conducting experiments in this lab, we confirmed the two laws; Ohm's and Kirchhoff's.

Objectives

To know the laboratory policies and report formats

To familiarize the participants with various laboratory instruments

To learn about the laboratory safety issues and mandatory disciplinary requirements

To read the resistance in the resistor depending on the color coding

To use the Agilent digital multi-meter to calculate the resistances, current and voltage

To confirm Ohm's and Kirchhoff's law

Materials

DC Power Supply

Press the power key to start The Agilent DC Power Supply. Select one of the three power supplies. Press the voltage current key to activate the Volt Display. Set the output voltage to 10V using circular control knob.

Multimeter

Multimeter measures the resistance by applying a small voltage on the resistor and measuring the resultant current.

Generator

Press the AC waveform key to produce 1MHz sinewave output with the Agilent Function Generator. Press the “Freq” key and enter the frequency.

Ground Wire

Use the distribution tie pins for power supply and ground. Use the black jumper wire and the red jumper supply. Ensure to have all grounds. Place the components well-spaced. If a component does not reach the hole, use spare wires to connect it. Be careful while placing jumper wires into the breadboard holes.

Circuit and Experimental Design

Connect the wires from the Multi-meter to each end of the resistor to measure the resistance. Use parallel circuit for measuring the voltage and serial circuit for measuring the current.

Procedure:

Identify and measure the three resistors

Identify the given resistors by looking at their color pattern

Connect the BNC to alligator clips

Connect the alligator clips to both ends of the multi-meter

Record the resistance shown on the multi-meter

Measure Voltage, Current, and Resistance
