This is a situation as told by tenant stating that they currently are living in a home that was once condemned. The landlord wanted $650 for a home that was not occupied before we moved in, and they talked him down to $500 and to help him fix the house up. Lease stated all of this and the minimum conditions we had to follow. The tenants agreed upon a l year contract and let the landlord know that they were still looking for our own home so the contract might only last for six months, they did fixed the home up enough to move in as the security deposit; painting, putting up blinds, carpet, new door knobs, and filling in all the holes in the house and outside the house. We will study the legal issues related to this situation.


Fair Housing Act

State or local governments may establish fair housing laws that extend protection to other groups. For example, the Fair Housing Act of North Carolina contains the following protected classes: race, religion, sex, national origin, handicap, familial status, or "except as otherwise provided by law, the fact that a housing project or a proposed housing project containing affordable housing units for families or individually to people with incomes below 80% or the average income of the area(Liuzzo, 2012).

Landlord Right to Rent

Several states have their laws regarding landlords and tenants according to the Act Uniform Residential Landlord and Tenant and the Code residential landlord-tenant model.
