Legalization of Drugs

Introduction

The importance of drugs and the use of them for such purposes that greatly affect the health of the users are evident to almost every person. It has been seen in the past that legalization of many unlawful practices has reduced the number of illegal activities that were being caused by that products ban, including the establishment of the black market of that product, which is mostly caused as of the ban of that product in a certain number of states. This leads to the pursuance of wrong activities and also of the illegal activities that are caused by the ban. An important issue in this regard is of the ban of imports and exports of many important drugs. This in turn, leads to the promotion of various illegal activities, including the promotion of the illegal trade of drugs from the various countries like Mexico (Miron, 2009).

Not only this, the ban on the trade of drugs also causes restrictions of particular drugs, even for the medical purposes. The use of several drugs, which, are actually of significant for the recovery of the patients, but either due to their ban of use in the state or either because of their unavailability in the market as of the restriction imposed by the on their import and export, it is not possible to use them even for the medical purposes.

Discussion

As according to a CNN broadcast, which highlighted the issue of the legalization of the drug in a discussion that included the CEO and the founder of the hill Treatment Centre i.e. Dr. Howard C. Samuels, it was made clear as to how things like pot or Marijuana of which the best uses are promoted these days and which are highlighted as being fruitful in many ways, are actually even more harmful for use as of the involvement of many chemicals in them, along which they are served now-a-days (Samuels, 2013).

Dr. Samuels during the discussion on CNN also highlighted as to how the adults are being more and more irresponsible towards their children by actually neglecting the health issues that are linked with the use of health affecting drugs like Marijuana. Not only this, he even discussed that the teenagers and the young adults who fall under the age bracket of 15 years to 25 years of age and who are actually in the development stage of stable feelings, should not be substituted with the use of drugs like Marijuana for stabilizing their emotions, which gets them addicted to those drugs for a life time (Samuels, 2013).
