As a matter of fact, natural disasters like earthquakes are not the cause of people's deaths; the houses constructed by people in the middle of earthquakes are the real cause. By viewing and analyzing the photographs taken at such sites or the statistics collected, one would realize that most of the fatalities after an earthquake are due to the edifices, or parts of edifices that fall on people. Having these facts considered, there generally seems to be no solution of completely avoiding this calamity other than to toss a house in the air on the occurrence of an earthquake. Research presents several ways of preventing the damage caused by the earthquakes, which may be classified into three distinct categories; seismic construction technique, isolation technique, and the levitating technique. The seismic construction technique entails that the architects would strengthen the foundation and structure of the house itself for the order of contending with earthquakes.

The benefit of this technique is that it is very economical; however the disadvantage is that the house may still be damaged quite easily. The other technique called the isolation technique is very costly and causes the architects to implement a shock system amid the house and the ground surface. In this way, the house would not be coupled with the shaking ground surface solidly, and in times of an earthquake, its movement would be minimized.
