Introduction

Nurse educators and registered nurses are largely unaware of the experiences of nursing students with the profession. A majority of nursing students are preoccupied with a perceived shortage of technical skills and knowledge and this has prevented many of them from seeing value in their work. This paper serves to examine the current nursing environment and highlights how patient outcomes can be improved by integrating an evidence-based approach to the nursing practice settings.
