In 1800, leader John Adams lost his attempt for re-election. Thomas Jefferson was cast a vote in for the president. Adams, being a Federalist, contradicted with the convictions of Jefferson, a republican, and dreaded that he would shift the power in the government to the states. To avert this, Adams conceived many new judicial mails and topped up them with Federalists.
