Measures of Central Tendency

Central Tendency

The idea of central tendency is significant in actual life. Measures of central tendency try to calculate what we indicate when we estimate the normal in any data set. It provides quick reply of any data of values. The central tendency measures are median, mode and mean.

Mean

It is arithmetic mean of every variable, which can easily identify by ay adding all the data observations and then divided by the total numbers of data set observations.

Median

Median of an observation is the value that cuts the data in half. It is also known as the 50th percentile the data set. We have two types of formula for identifying the median value.

When we have even data set, then arrange the data first in an ascending order, then add the middle two values, add them and then divide by 2.

When we have odd data set, and then arrange the data first in an ascending order, the middle value which cuts the data set exactly as half is they median of odd data set.

Mode

The most repetitive value in the data set is known as the mode value. The three factors are essential in the central tendency, which identifies the data in a quick way. Central tendency is important for real life situations (Lind, et.al, 2002).
