Background of the Problem

There is a key role to play by the medical professionals in early provision, intervention, and detection for the specialized treatment of individuals who suffer the consequences of domestic violence whether it is emotional, sexual or physical. Domestic violence is a problem of health care having an epidemic proportion that has turned into a widespread social issue. It is the responsibility of the physicians to participate in the community wide efforts that mainly strengthens and establishes the resources for perpetrator of domestic violence. The women after going through domestic violence interact with the health care system first for emergency and routine care before they turn to domestic violence services and law enforcements. The health care system in United Kingdom and Greece works immensely with the service providers and domestic violence advocates. They respond to victims of domestic violence through referral, intervention, documentation, assessments, and screening.

Domestic violence is usually followed by human trafficking by means of which the individuals can make money. Human trafficking is one of the highest mounting criminal industries in today's world, coming after illegal drug-trade. Trafficking in human beings deprives people of their freedom and rights. Human trafficking could be either by forceful abduction or deceitful abduction i.e. against their will; millions of people around the world are forced, defrauded, coerced, and abused of power or a failing position because of which a person is compelled to work for the profit of others.
