The capital of the State of Alabama was arrested and then fined for refusing to give way to a white passenger on a bus as it was required by local law. After the arrest of Rosa Parks, Ed Nixon, who led the local union of Sleeping Car, called the black community to boycott public transportation in protest. Boycott of the bus lines in Montgomery soon headed young black priest, Martin Luther King. Through the efforts of King and members of the committee, protest Blacks lasted 381 days and went into history as the "Walking in the name of freedom" - the participants of the protest had to go to work on foot (some black citizens of Montgomery were transported to and from work to home owners black taxi bus fares), and local bus companies suffered heavy losses (Flamm, 2005).

The unrest began with an attack on a hotel where they celebrated a feast of solidarity with the French Revolution. Then, after starting for the house and the church of Joseph Priestley, the demonstrators attacked and burned four churches dissidents, twenty-seven houses and several shops. Many of them were intoxicated with the liquor they found during the looting or with trying to bribe them to stop burning houses. However, they could not bribe a small group who stayed sober. Rioters burned the houses not only the dissidents and their churches, but also those of people who associated with them, as the house where they met members of the scientific Lunar Society (Flamm, 2005).

Recommendations (Pros and Cons)

There may be various policies to cope with the current situation. One option is to avoid the unrest by allowing the states to vote on whether the African Americans should have human rights. We can Identify four targets of protest in Birmingham: desegregation eateries, fitting rooms, toilets and drinking water fountains in department stores, non-discriminatory promotion and hiring blacks to work in the commercial network and the industrial enterprises of the city, amnesty of all protesters, who would go to jail, the creation of interracial committee to work out the schedule of desegregation in other areas of Birmingham (U.S. Department of Justice,2012).
