Introduction

The world in which we live is full of different people. These different people belong to different religion and hence they possess different social and cultural values. On the basis of these differences they differ from one another. But, when these different people live together in a community then they adopt each other's ways and practices so that they can coordinate with others, resemble like them and do not look alien. This issue of race and ethnicity affects the community living in more than one ways. It affects the human interaction in the society, conduct and behavior of people to each other. Michael Jackson was one of the legendary singers of the world. He was not merely a singer but was an individual who recognized the problems of the society and he portrayed and highlighted them in his songs. The video selected for the paper is of the song, “They don't really care about us,” by Michael Jackson. This song is a very controversial piece of works ever composed by Michael Jackson.

Thesis Statement

The video analysed is “They don't really care about us” in Michael Jackson conveys that racism is a conflict among various communities as it is showing preference for or against a person or institution based solely on their race which resulting over power in one society over others and it required unified community to work together in ensuring safety and country progress.

Renowned as the King of Pop, Michael Jackson was born in Gary, Indiana on August 29, 1958. He was seventh among the nine Jackson children. His career begin when he was a child, aged 5, he became the vocalist of the popular group Jackson Five. The Jackson Five was a pop group made up of the Five Jackson male kids. This band was organized by Michael Jackson's father, Joseph. Initially, Michael Jackson was included in the group merely as an exotic element; however, with time the talent of Jackson was clearly witnessed. After which he was made the lead singer of the group. He was the brother of the popular singer Janet Jackson. During the '70s the group remained intact machine to create hits. There major hits included 6 songs including “I want you back” and “ABC.”

As time passed, he grew, became aware, understood and thought 'why leave out on the inner child in you'. That marked rebirth for Michael, for his family, friends and loved ones. He then rose to the top with his music, touched hearts, made peace in people's lives, put smiles on their faces, made them tear with joy and relief that he wanted to see on everyone's faces. Excellent dancer, endowed with undeniable appeal for his thousands of fans all over the world, Michael Jackson showcased ability for the business of the entertainment and music world.
